Interlude: 18 months later - Summer in Steelhead ...

Like all old-timers, the Constable of the Port of Steelhead and Copper-tooth, the old air sailor sat at bar of Saloon, a typical day. Two young cavalrymen fresh from the floating front were sitting in a corner booth, quietly trading stories and drinking away the fear. They were no doubt relieved to be back in the homeland.   The bartender was an old Furry named Gustavo Ferretstein. He appeared as Fox with rabbit ears.   Cooper-tooth didn't understand that. Sipping his second gin and tonic, he thought that does make more sense than most things around here.   The constable ordered the second pint. “Obviously, working hard today, Constable?”, Copper-tooth joked.   “Slow day, after the quarantine was put in place, the docks became a ghost town”   Gus put the pint in front of the constable. “No one comes here to cause trouble with the curfew” Copper- Tooth sighed. “Life during wartime” “No time for nightclubs or lovey-dovey”, Gus added. Chapter 4 - An unfortunate field trip or "I am Shiva, the Destroyer of Worlds"

From the control tower, Commander Tusk could see the glittering sun across the Firth of Caledon a long channel that cut across the north-central region of the Commonwealth. To the north on a clear day, you could make out the distant north sound and occasionally see the Enchanted Kingdom of Rose Heaven across the sound. To the south the largest landmass in the Commonwealth. Lush and green, blessed with an abundance of the most fertile farmland and fisheries in the world. Caledon City, Victoria City, and Steam City were some of the most populated cities in the Steamlands. The tall towers and clear skies of Victoria complemented the industrial and seafaring lands around Caledon proper. North of the Firth, were mountain and woods that hosted some of the most resource-rich lands anywhere.   It was a blessing of geography and due to the grace of its Creator that the Commonwealth was wealthy, beautiful, cultured and free. In the center of it all floated Iron Cloud. A marvel of Caledon

Chapter 3 - From Victoria City to Oxbridge

The steam floated over the track, as Victoria-Oxbridge Express pushed across the moors. Alexandra Cleverly politely sat in her second class seat. She was somewhat was relieved that the train to Oxbridge wasn't crowded. An old man sleeping in front of her. A family with small children behind her. She was returning to the University early ahead of the term. She wanted to sort out a few items in the library before the winter term started. In the far back of the car, a few sailors sat chatting in a relaxed manor.   Her father had been pleased with her progress and it was a nice Christmas time with him in Victoria City. She worried about his health after her mother had passed. Her father, a local constable, was quite busy in his role policing the rowdy section of the Victoria City docks. Her mother sadly had pass after contracting an illness in the “Steelhead Flu” outbreak. The pandemic had taken a toll on the steamlands. She missed her mother dearly.   Out the window, tre

So a little more about this. This is a work in progress about one point of view on a few Alt. historic events. It is mostly fiction. Some of the names have been changed or the places altered to protect the innocent or to not further annoy the guilty. Any opinions expressed here solely mine and don't represent much of anything other than that.  I'll likely edit this more over time into a coherent story or group of stories. I know this timeline and the events don't reflect some people RP canon. That's fine.   Hotel Gearhaven Pre-Attack  Gearhaven Hanger over Port  Not who you think.

Revised- Chapter 2 - A few weeks after the Middlesea Event - The Duke briefly stops in Gearhaven

Caledon Gearhaven, Present Day “To me the Metaverse is like a 7% Solution was for Sherlock Holmes.  A distraction until something else draws on my particular set of skills. When I am called off to a new adventure, I don't need to the… outlet” The Lady nodded politely. Her typical reaction. A sign of her training. Affirm positively. To not appear distracted and keep the Gentleman properly engaged. It was night time in Caledon. The moon reflected off the Firth. In the distance, the public airships hummed over the Port, turning to cross Gearhaven and then glide over the Firth to Tanglewood. The Gearhaven standard flew off the bow of the ship. Lady Orr noticed the absence of a Caledon or Armadan insignia. It wasn't like the Duke to be openly disrespectful of the Commonwealth. She felt sad about the missing Armada flag. The  Duke had returned abruptly to Caledon. He had returned to legally enforce his claim on the Fiefdom of Gearhaven. His wandering had taken him fa

REVISED -Chapter 1 - In the Shadow of the Clocktower or The one about Mondragon Ambassador and the Babbage Military Intelligence Chief

The Major was late. As he walked briskly down the boulevard, he could here the distant chimes of Clockwinder Tower alerting the city to the early morning hour. The fog was lifting a bit, but still smelled of soot and wood. The noises of grinding and churning from the brewery and the metals forge pierced the early morning. The trains rattled overhead. Two street sweeping Tik-Toks slowly swept the street and cleans the mixture of soot, ash, broken glass, feces and other unspeakable debris from last night off the sidewalk.   He entered the Brunel hotel quickly. A security detail in the lobby ignored him as he walked directly to the staircase. So much for a discrete meeting. If we had to have so many soldiers as guards, why not meet at the ministry? When he arrived outside the suite, a uniformed Babbage Marine opened the door to allow him access to the conference room.   The Mondragon Ambassador was seated nervously, while the Admiral paced. “Thank you for you coming, Major” The
